If there is an organization that has repeatedly shown its rejection of pirate IPTV, it is LaLiga. This has long been persecuting any illegal service that is giving its users access to pirate broadcasts to watch LaLiga matches. In fact, the organization itself reported to the European Commission a long list of applications that were used for it; nevertheless, many of them are still available for use.
LaLiga already delivered to the European Commission a few months ago what was called the Counterfeiting and Piracy Watch List, which included a long list of IPTV applications available on both Android and iOSas well as pages that gave access to illegal broadcasts.
Many apps are still available for download
The text that LaLiga sent to the European Commission included a list of 85 applications which, according to this entity, were used to watch illegal broadcasts of the matches of this football competition. The argument used is that these applications are not only used to watch sports audiovisual content, but also movies and series illegally. Therefore, as we can see in the following fragment of the text, LaLiga considers it necessary to remove it from the app stores:
The fact that these types of applications are available on the distribution platforms of the operating systems, especially Android and iOS, severely aggravates the situation considering the billions of users in the world who use mobile devices with these operating systems. For this reason, it is strictly necessary that the aforementioned distribution platforms support the owners and holders of rights in this problem, by eliminating illegal reproductive applications from their ecosystems.

LaLiga against IPTV apps
However, after a few months have passed since this complaint, we have been able to verify that currently 43 of those 85 apps are still available to download normally from the Google Play Store. There are some applications that have undergone slight name changes, but as we say, most of them remain as they are. The list of applications that continue to work today is as follows:

They cannot be considered illegal
The real problem that LaLiga faces with these applications is that, in reality, they are not illegal at all. These apps are no different than other apps like Kodi or BitTorrent. What we mean by this is that are legal applications that can be given permitted usesbut which obviously also give access to pirated uses, such as watching football illegally in this case.
So what can LaLiga do to nip these apps in the bud? The truth is this result was quite to be expected, since what this body has to prove is that these applications give access to view illegal content, and in reality they do not do it by themselves. In fact, most of these applications specify in their description that they do not give access to illegal content. It is the users who have to search for the lists that give access to this type of content, so the focus of “censorship” should be on the web pages that give access to these m3u lists.
