Telefónica intends to review and repair its plant telephone poles in the national territory, which exceed 3.5 million units and are an essential infrastructure for the company. The company plans to review and repair these millions of poles in a plan that will last until 2023.
The Central Health and Safety Committee of Telefónica de España, made up of company executives and unions, has created a new management within the Operations and Network area to deal with this maintenance, which will see how posts in poor condition are marked with red disks .
Red disks on faulty posts
As we said, one of the great measures of this new management will be to apply extensive maintenance to your telephone pole plant in this way, to be able to have a better list of those in poor condition and include those that have already been reviewed and those that will have to be changed.
This badge for posts in poor condition will be a red disk to be placed upon finding one of those faulty posts. In this case, the placement of a red disc will mean the stoppage of use until said post is replaced.
As a reference, last year the company replaced 50,000 telephone poles, so this process aims to streamline such operations, as well as help identify more effectively those that need repair from those that have already been checked and verified.
New fiberglass telephone poles
In addition to this replacement of poles in poor condition, we also has approved a new type of post that will be made of materials such as fiberglass to modernize these infrastructures, traditionally made of wood and with greater degradation due to inclement weather. Beyond this greater resistance to the impact of the weather, which will increase its useful life, it will also use a more sustainable material.
