Like every year, Dell has updated its reference ultraportable. We are talking about Dell XPS 13 (9315), a device that is now lighter, slimmer and more powerful than its predecessor. It has a starting weight of 1.17 kg, 13.99 mm thick and 12th generation Intel Core processors with hybrid architecture.
The Dell XPS 13 is also accompanied by the Dell XPS 2-in-1 Convertible (9315), which adopts a new design to look more like Microsoft’s Surface, although in this article we will focus on the more “traditional” option of this family. of computers.

A step forward in performance
As in previous generations, the new Dell XPS 13 will allow us to choose various hardware configuration options before you buy them. Let’s start with the news. The most prominent, probably, are the new processors.
We’ve gone from 11th Gen Intel Core to 12th Gen Intel (we still don’t have an AMD alternative). This means that we can benefit from chips with hybrid architecture, with 10 cores and 12 threads.
The improvement at the processing level should improve the overall performance of the equipment. Thanks to the combination of high performance and efficiency cores, we would not only get more speed, but also longer use time.

As for the battery, this team has a 51 Wh. Like the 2021 model, it promises to take advantage of Dell’s Express Charge technology to recharge from 0% to 80% in less than an hour.
At the level of RAM we find different configurations: 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB. In all cases we will not be able to replace them since they are welded. A disadvantage from the point of view of repairability.

In the display section we find a unique change. Apparently Dell is leaving OLED panels for more expensive models, such as the new Dell XPS 13 Plus, so in this computer we find a panel IPS the 13.4″.
As we can see in the tab above, we are allowed to choose between an FHD + screen (1920 x 1200) or a UHD + panel (3840 x 2400). While the touch option is optional in the FHD+ version, the UHD+ version includes it by default.

Speaking of cuts, this year we also lose the headphone jack. If we want to connect our 3.5 mm headphones we must resort to an optional connector. As for the other ports, there are two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports.
What if we have to connect a USB-A accessory? A USB-C to USB-A adapter is included in the box. We also do not have a card reader included in the computer or HDMI ports, but a Docking Station could be a good option in this case.
Dell XPS 13 (9315) Price and Availability
At the moment, the new Dell XPS 13 (9315) is only available in the United States and Canada in Sky and Umber colors. The initial price in the mentioned countries is $999. When will it arrive in Europe? This summer, but prices in euros are still unknown.
