Netflix has unveiled this Tuesday in its virtual event “Geked Week” some of the clips of the new movies that will arrive on its platform. One of them is ‘Spiderhead‘, a thriller from the writers of ‘Deadpool’ based on a book by George Saunders.
In the images we see a completely different prison than the one we have seen in other movies. It is not a monstrous high-security building, but a high-tech complex in which inmates participate in a study on drugs to manipulate emotions.
A story about manipulating emotions
Those who decide to participate in the experiment have the possibility of reducing their sentence, but not everything always goes as expected and some situations end up getting out of control. This leads one of the prisoners (Miles Teller) to question the purpose of this methodology and its medications.
Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), the “brilliant mind” behind the project, tries to keep what happens in the prison under control and tries to convince the inmates to go ahead with the experiment, although at the same time he does everything possible to take them to the limit. .
Faced with this situation, which seems to get worse over time, the inmates try to evade the evidence to save their lives and that of their partner Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett). The truth is that this translates into an avalanche of emotions, tension and survival instinct.
The new Netflix movie, Spiderhead is directed by Joseph Kosinski (‘Top Gun: Maverick’). The cast, as mentioned above, is made up of Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett Charles Parnell, Tess Haubrich, Nathan Jones and BeBe Bettencourt.
Release date? It will be available from June 17.
